10 Year Smoke Alarms
Smoke Alarm Law Effective January 1st 2018
Requires replacement of battery only smoke alarms with sealed 10 year lithium-ion models.
Once alarm is 10 years past manufacturer’s date stamped on back.
Requires replacement of all smoke alarms every ten years.
Must replace 10 years from manufacturer’s date stamped on back.
Monitored alarms are not affected by the new law.
Hardwired alarms should be replaced every 10 years.
Recommended to be replaced with a 10 year backup type.
